Dealing with a Ganglion

For many people the issue is more of an annoyance as it does not stop them doing the things they need to.   

You are encouraged to continue using the hand and wrist as normal.  

Most cases will simply get better with time.  There are no long term issues from leaving them untreated. 

If the area becomes painful or starts to get bigger, please contact your local GP practice. They can check the area and, if needed, arrange further tests or refer you to a specialist hand unit.

Ganglion cysts can be removed with an operation, but this is not usually needed. This is because the cyst can come back after surgery. Removing the cyst does not always remove the reason why it formed, so the swelling may return.
